Мутагенный эффект радиации — мутагенное действие различных видов излучений на живые организмы. Для объяснения механизма их воздействия предложены две гипотезы:
а) прямого действия радиации в результате попаданий ионизирующих частиц (см. Мишени теория);
б) непрямого действия — через химические изменения внутри клетки, вызванные излучением.
